Nigeria Has Highest Number Of Extremely Poor People In The World (Photos)

According to the 2018 World Poverty Clock Report, 85 million people or 45% of Nigeria's population are extremely poor, meaning that these people cannot afford to live above the international poverty line of $1.90 (680 Naira) a day.

The worrying sign is that the number is increasing absolutely and as a percentage of Nigeria's population.

In 2017 the number was 79 million Nigerians (43% of population).
In 2016, it was 73 million (40%).

The World Poverty Clock provides real-time poverty estimates until 2030 for almost every country in the world. It monitors progress against Ending Extreme Poverty, which is the UN’s first Sustainable Development Goal (SDG1). The escape rate calculates the current rate of poverty reduction in the world.
